In the bar round the corner you can hardly hear each other, half the group drifts away and the shy ones go home early. A privatised space changes the dynamic: everyone can see and talk to each other, and the team leaves with a real shared memory.
Thursday 6pm-9pm remains the prime slot: early enough for everyone to come, close enough to the weekend for the right mindset. Avoid Mondays and the days before holidays.
A one-off afterwork is a nice moment; a monthly afterwork creates a ritual. Same venue, same slot, no logistics to repeat: it is the cohesion investment with the best effort/impact ratio.
