What is a responsible event according to Comet?
Now that environmental and social impact is at the heart of the concerns of individuals and companies alike, we feel like setting out a framework and a definition for what makes an event responsible. And of course, this definition commits us! While organising an event is already in itself a militant act in our eyes, because it fights against the temptation of the “all-digital” and helps combat the isolation of individuals, other characteristics obviously come into play.
Environmental Commitment
Far too great a quantity of waste is produced as part of the events business. ISO 20121 certified, Comet is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and to favouring an environmentally respectful approach. This translates into the meticulous choice of recycled and local materials, as well as into adherence to strict sustainability standards. Every detail of the furniture, from the recycled plastic chairs by Furniture for Good to the wall decorations by Atelier Nickel Chrome, everything is designed to minimise our ecological impact as much as possible.
Social Responsibility
For Comet, there is no responsible event without social commitment. That is why the company has notably signed a collaboration with organisations such as Student Pop, to support student employment and help fund their studies.
The Circular Economy in Action
In our view, a responsible event also works with the circular economy. By collaborating with partners such as Selency, Dereva or Emmaüs, Comet gives a second life to second-hand furniture and decorations, thereby proving that design can also be environmentally friendly. This creative and innovative approach anchors Comet's action in favour of reducing waste and promoting responsible consumption.
A Collective Impact
Finally, what truly sets a responsible event apart in our eyes is the emphasis placed on collective impact. We do not simply organise events, we create collective experiences during which every participant is invited to be co-responsible for their own footprint. By using tools like ClimateSeed, Comet encourages its clients to assess the carbon impact of their events, thus turning every gathering into an opportunity for learning and continuous improvement.
In short, for us, a responsible event is a little more than an event. It is also a commitment to the planet, to society and to the future. It is a concrete and visible act, a unifying one, a declaration of intent that turns every gathering into a chance to make a positive difference in the world.
