Comet Meetings is opening its first Spanish venue: Comet Retiro, 1,900 sq m facing Madrid's Retiro Park, opening on 29 August 2022.
A new venue in the heart of the Spanish capital to keep transforming corporate meetings and offsites in Europe
Only five years after it was founded, and with 10 venues dedicated to corporate meetings and offsites already open in France and Belgium, Comet Meetings is continuing its European expansion with the launch of a new venue in Madrid, in the sought-after Retiro district. In this building with a listed facade, fitted out in collaboration with the architecture studio Madrid in Love, Comet Meetings fully intends to win Madrid companies over to its vision of meetings and of new forms of collaboration. A value proposition that combines outstanding venues with premium services to stimulate teams' creativity and productivity. Comet Retiro, the “Parc au Trésor”, opens on 29 August 2022.
Answering the expectations of Madrid companies
The decision to set up in Madrid follows a need clearly identified by Comet Meetings. Spaniards are indeed far more committed to remote or hybrid working than the French, as a Fondation Jean-Jaurès study published in September 2021 noted. It shows that 43% of Spaniards were working fully remotely, against 34% of French employees. The Spanish government has also introduced incentives to encourage “digital nomads” to move to Spain. A strong signal to companies, which nonetheless have to invent a new way of building in high-quality in-person collaboration time, in order to sustain and nurture their capacity for innovation and their corporate culture. That is precisely Comet Meetings' core business and expertise: giving meetings a new dimension so they become working and decision-making moments that deliver progress, results and stronger ties between colleagues. Outstanding venues and innovative services serve that purpose.
An outstanding venue in the beating heart of Madrid
True to the spirit of its previous projects, Comet Meetings has chosen a listed building for its first Madrid venue, facing the famous Retiro Park. The new co-meeting venue will open on one of the Spanish capital's most emblematic avenues, Calle Alfonso XII, close to the Puerta de Felipe IV and the Casón del Buen Retiro. To capture the buzzing, creative spirit of a Madrid in constant change, where shops and restaurants vie in boldness and originality of design, Comet Meetings commissioned the studio Madrid in Love to bring this building, already rich in history and singular architecture, into today's modern spirit. Madrid in Love worked for 8 months in close collaboration with Comet's Design & Build team to create the perfect synergy between Comet's creative DNA and local companies' expectations in terms of atmosphere and ergonomics. The result enhances the venue, further underlining the character of the building's remarkable facade and creating genuine harmony with the beauty of the neighbouring park.
The Spanish monarchs who liked to stroll through this district and along the paths of the Retiro would surely have appreciated the quality of the work, and companies will find in Comet's “Parc au Trésor” the ideal place to meet, work as a team and, in their turn, gain perspective through the privileged moments of reflection and creation that Comet knows how to design.
Comet Meetings and Studio Madrid in Love
To match its ambitions, Comet Meetings worked with Studio Madrid in Love, founded by Naora Qurios and Juan Luis Medina in 2011. It brings together some twenty professionals who put their creative power and talent at the service of exceptional projects in hospitality, public spaces and design venues. Its 360-degree vision allows it to sign original, avant-garde concepts. The daily El Mundo has named it one of the practices doing most to renew the spirit of Madrid restaurants. Projects by Studio Madrid in Love include names such as Grupo Pez (El Imparcial) and Grupo El Escondite (El Escondite de Villanueva, Cleas or Lady Madonna).
